Hluboká nad Vltavou | The magical castle of South Bohemia

Surely you all have seen those magical castles in the fairytales. Beautiful white enormous castles with outstanding architecture, stunning gardens accessorized with flowers and plants, rivers and green arcs.

A few kilometers north of České Budějovice, a castle like this exists, ready to make all your princess dreams come true.

After visiting České Budějovice, our plan was to continue east, but while driving on the map, I found a stunning castle. It was not an option to skip it.

We parked the car and started walking towards the castle. Our first impression was, "Wow."

Really, I cannot describe in words how gorgeous the castle looks. The little girl inside of me was jumping with happiness.

The rose garden and green, well-maintained bushes surrounding the white castle create even more of a magical experience. The big garden in front of it is perfect for a walk on a warm day. That’s exactly what we did after taking thousands of pictures and videos in front of the castle.

Originally founded as a guardian castle in the middle of the 13th century by Bohemian kings, the castle did not look exactly as it does nowadays. Its appearance today is due to reconstruction in a Neo-Gothic style during the 19th century.

The castle and its 140 rooms and 11 towers are open every day for a tour. You can see the private rooms and the royal kitchen, with all its amenities, preserved from the 19th century. The inside will definitely impress you with its lush ceremonial halls, coffered ceilings, sparkling crystal chandeliers, and big collection of paintings.

Here you can find tickets for the tours, the entrance, and all the additional information you might need.
